Reaching the "Millennial Aged"
I was saddened to read the article, “Reaching the Millennial-Aged”, in the January 7 issue of Herald and Review. It seems churches must now resort to gimmicks in order to fill their pews. The younger (“millennial-aged”) generation has to be somehow lured into the church buildings by what the article referred to as services that “are loud and proud, featuring booming music and charismatic speakers,” and “a more boisterous style of worship.” May God have mercy! Hearts have become so callous and in tune with the world that they must be stirred up by horns, cymbals and drums. To such churches, I’d say you’ve come a long way from New Testament church-policy. For the first 600 years of church history, Christians were content with a worship that did not appeal to the flesh so much as to the spirit, not even using mechanical instruments of music. Early reformers in the Protestant Restoration Movement opposed such, as did denominations that broke off from Catholicism. |
BibleReading ScheduleThe daily Bible reading plan is a guide for you to read through the Bible in one year. Each day of the week there is a reading from one of seven categories. Day one of each week starts with a reading from Psalm and then follows this order; Law, Old Testament History, Wisdom, Old Testament Prophecy, New Testament History, and Letters & New Testament Prophecy. When you start a new reading from Psalm, you are starting a new week.
