Marriage Redefined
It has always been Satan’s intent to corrupt everything that God has created. At the completion of creation, all things formed by God were declared to be “very good” (Genesis 1:31 ). Satan’s ultimate goal is seen in the Genesis narrative to be to bring to destruction that which is created in the image of God—mankind. Central to man’s creation is the union of the man, Adam, to the woman brought from his side, Eve. God performed that first marriage, wherein it is declared, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh (Gen. 2:24).” Since that time, the strength of civilization has been determined by the strength of marriage and the home. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that marriage, and the sacred laws that protect this God-given institution, come under siege by those in Satan’s bondage. We see this in the lowering of moral standards designed by God to insure the well-being of this backbone to human survival. Sexual transgression is rampant. The entertainment industry seems intent on portraying marriage as non-essential, and casual sex outside of marriage as both a pleasant thing and expected. Values set forth in God’s laws, once treasured and protected, are now often cast aside as out-of-date. |
